Northwest Women's Intercollegiate Basketball Officials Association (NWIBOA)
Position Type: Independent Contractor
Term: Two-Year Contract (renewable)
Start Date: June 1, 2026 (or as negotiated)

Position Summary
The Northwest Women's Intercollegiate Basketball Officials Association (NWIBOA) is seeking a highly organized and professional Coordinator of Officials to manage the assignment and administration of women's intercollegiate basketball officials across the Northwest Athletic Conference for the North, West, and South Regions. (If the right candidates, we are open to hiring two coordinators - one to cover the NWAC North and West and one to cover the NWAC South)

The independent contractor role is critical to ensuring consistent, ethical, and high-quality officiating services throughout the basketball season.

Primary Responsibilities
Administrative & Leadership Duties
● Attend NWIBOA Board meetings as requested
● Represent NWIBOA professionally in meetings with conferences and regional divisions
● Communicate and review officiating service agreements, NWIBOA policies, and scheduling procedures with partner conferences and schools
● Collaborate with NWIBOA leadership, Director of Operations, and other coordinators
● Maintain accurate records of scheduled games, school administrative contacts, coaches, and contest details
● Utilize the NWIBOA-approved web based assigning platform RefQuest (for scheduling games and communicating to officials)

Game Assignment Responsibilities
● Assign officials for women's basketball contests within the Northwest Athletic Conference North, West, and South Regions
● Make assignments based on official availability, experience, level of competition, and geographic considerations. Working with other coordinators to assign the best crew available.
● Manage game changes, cancellations, and reassignment of officials in a timely manner
● Ensure all assignments are distributed prior to the season and updates as needed

Communication & Official Relations
● Serve as the primary contact for conferences, schools, and officials regarding scheduling and officiating matters
● Respond promptly to phone calls, emails, and messages to protect the best interests of NWIBOA
● Ability to observe games in person, there will be a required in game evaluation minimum
● Communicate clearly with officials regarding assignments, cancellations, availability, and conflicts
● Enforce NWIBOA policies related to cancellations, rescheduling fees, and standards of conduct

Qualifications
● Strong knowledge of current NCAA women's college mechanics and rules
● Excellent organizational, communication, and problem solving skills
● Ability to manage a high volume of assignments with accuracy and professionalism
● Preferred experience working with officials, conferences, or athletic organizations
● Proficiency with technology to use web-based scheduling and assigning systems
Compensation & Expenses
● Compensation will vary based on if we hire one or two coordinators of officials
● Compensation will include a base plus a percentage of the annual officiating services assessment paid by each contracted school
● There will be a travel budget provided for approved travel expenses related to professional meetings and official observations
● Will be paid in two installments, one by January 31 and the second by March 31
 
Contract & Legal Terms
● Position is an independent contractor role, not employment
● Contractor is responsible for all applicable taxes and insurance
● Required to carry general liability insurance of at least $1,000,000 annually
● Must adhere to NWIBOA's Standard Operating Procedures, Code of Ethics, and Standards of Conduct
