McCartain won the Columbia Basin Invitational on April 17, the first league match of the spring. The freshman shot even par for the two-round tournament, with a score of 71 on day 1 and 73 on day 2. McCartain helped elad the Cardinals to the victory as a team as they shot +13 overall, easily besting second place SW Oregon by 21 strokes.
